The Places of Our Museum

Our museum is made up of four main sites, each with a unique history and characteristics. Our tour does not include the assistance of an authorized guide, which can be requested for an additional fee.

Mother Church of St. Peter and Paul with the ancient Norman Tower

Located in the charming setting of the Mother Church of San Pietro e Paolo, this structure houses the ancient Norman Tower, later transformed into a bell tower. The visit experience includes the exploration of the ancient "bell ringer's rooms", offering an immersion into the emotions of the past. The tour also includes access to the bell tower itself. Entrance to the Church is free. Access to the Norman Tower with its rooms is possible with a 2 euro coin or QR code scanning.

Church of St. Anthony the Abbot

Located a few steps from the Church of San Pietro, in the square of the same name, the Church of S. Antonio Abate welcomes inside a valuable marble inlay, a unique and rare work. The structure is also accessible to visitors with disabilities thanks to the ramps provided. Access is possible with a 1 euro coin or QR code scan.

Basilica of San Giacomo and Madonna della Catena

Next to the ancient Castle of Lauria, the Basilica represents the focal point of the town's religious life. Inside, the majestic Statue of Madonna della Catena stands out, made of marble by the Gagini school, placed on the main altar. The Basilica also houses the "Sagrestie" with an exhibition of sacred art, silverware, and sacred vestments from the Churches of Castiglione. This structure is also accessible to visitors with disabilities through special platforms. Access to the Church is free, to visit the Sacristies and the attached Museum a fee of 1 euro or QR code scanning is required.

Former Church of San Giuseppe and Crypt

Located in Piazza S. Martino, in the heart of the Borgo, the former Church of San Giuseppe hosts an information and reception point for tourists, offering the possibility to obtain QR tickets for visiting the sites. Part of the building houses an exhibition of silvers, furnishings, sacred vestments, and ancient books, including incunabula and volumes from the 1500s from the Vallidicanense Library. Furthermore, inside there is access to the mysterious Crypt, made accessible to visitors with disabilities through an electric lift chair. Entrance with a contribution of 2 euros.

This organization aims to provide a clearer and more organized view of the various museum sites, highlighting their distinctive features and ensuring inclusive welcome to all visitors.

Access Methods to Our Museums and Opening Hours

To visit our museums, we have created two access methods to offer flexibility to our visitors:

1

Admission via Coins:

Guests have the opportunity to access museum sites by inserting 1 Euro or 2 Euros directly into the turnstiles located at the entrance of the museums.

Use of QR Code:

Similarly, we offer the opportunity to obtain a QR Code, available both through the website www.museosantipietroepaolocastiglionedisicilia.it and at the former Church of St. Joseph, located in Piazza S. Martino in Castiglione di Sicilia. This QR Code can then be scanned directly at the entrance turnstiles of the museums.
